If you’re in the market for a high-end abode, you should know that while sales have slowed considerably over the past couple of years, that trend is starting to reverse as sellers come to grips with the new market reality and adjust their prices accordingly. If you look above the entrance to 72 Poplar St. in Brooklyn Heights, you’ll see a vestige of the luxury residential building’s former life: “Police Department City of New York” is chiseled into the lintel. 

The 1912 former police station served as the NYPD’s 84th Precinct House until the mid-1990s and was converted to condos with high ceilings and wide casement windows in 2014, maintaining the original facade. Now a four-bedroom, three-and-a-half-bath unit, #4B, is on the market there for $4,500,000. Monthly taxes are $2,735 and common charges are $2,214.

The current asking price reflects several price cuts—it was asking $4,750,000 in August and $4,950,000 when it was initially listed in March, according to StreetEasy. The current price is not far from the previous sale price of $4,315,000 recorded in March 2017.
