Affordable one and two-bedrooms are now accepting applications at 26-27 2nd Street, one of the buildings in Astoria Cove, a new mega-development along the East River in the Queens neighborhood, per a listing on NYC Housing Connect.
The units are available to renters earning 60 percent of the area median income (AMI), which in this case means from $30,480 to $57,240, depending on household size. See below for more information on income requirements and available units (click to enlarge):
Upon completion, Astoria Cove will be a mixed-use development spanning over eight acres on the East River waterfront and will include retail, a school, and parking; plus, 25 percent of the units will be affordable, Real Estate Weekly reports. Note that the location is quite far from the subway, but close to a new ferry, set to debut in August, and only a few blocks from Astoria Park.
According to the listing, there are laundry facilties on the first floor of the building, as well as a parking garage, though the latter requires paying an additional fee. As is typical with the affordable housing lottery, 50 percent of apartments will be set aside for current residents of the neighborhood, which in this case falls under Queens Community Board 1.
